Everything’s gone green

2020

Master of Fine Art (RMIT) graduation work.

Agar, food colouring, flocking, floating shelf, bell jar, plastic replica huntsman spider, pulley, metal wire, fake fur, acrylic wool, metal rings, carabiner, double ended snap hook, face-paint, nail polish, performer, projected single-channel HD video (02:04), dual-screen HD video with audio (03:17).

Suffocated by green light, they are stuck, trapped, tethered in a fluffy harness, and watched intently by the organism in the bell jar. The wolf spider will consume its children when in need but more often the offspring dine upon each other. Everything’s gone green is a kind of B-grade erotic horror film where all is fake and plastic and everything could change in a flash, forever.
