In Like a heartbeat drives you mad, the artist transforms the gallery space into a weird treatment room, a noxious space where not-quite-right beautification and body horror collide. Drawing on the visual language of ASMR clips, instructional videos, and cult iconography, the audience bears witness to a noxious ritual. Hear the self-emulsifying catchcry shudder throughout the space: be one with the gak. Like a heartbeat drives you mad offers a moment to share ridiculous communion with the anti-idol of panic and their hot tears of doom. Tread carefully here, things aren’t as they seem.
