One Hundred Songs of Sadness

No More Poetry Issue 7, 2023
Featured Artwork
English - saddle-stitched - eight pages
A3 Fine Art Print.

One Hundred Songs of Sadness No. 1 reimagines the Cocytus River from ancient Greek mythology as a labour-intensive drawing comprising the title and artist of Andrea’s favourite sad songs, drawn in bubble font and arranged in a fluid swirl.

This drawing is a lamentation, a muffled wail of grief and aloneness – of pain and suffering swirling away, under the surface, out of view - held at bay by doom-scrolling and dissociative ceiling-staring – rearing its head in private therapy rooms or ugly crying while trying to brush your teeth in the shower.
